Recreation and exercise are vital to the health and happiness of a community.
Have you spent time at the Glen Allan Recreation Complex?
What is your favourite thing to do there?
Can you imagine what school must have been like in a one room school house? Did you know, students would have to help collect wood for the stove in the winter so they could stay warm.
Glen Allan students have been lucky to have three beautiful schools in their neighbourhood almost from the beginning! Have you attended one of these schools? How have things changed over the years?
"On May 1, 1973 staff and students moved into the new "school on the hill". Glen Allan Elementary, one of the largest elementary schools in the County of Strathcona is built on the original James Allan farm."
"In September, 1973, the construction of [St. Nicholas Catholic School, then called Jean Vanier School,] was completed and students and staff moved into the new school located at 109 Georgian Way."
"Wes Hosford school opened its doors to 391 students from kindergarten to grade six on September 2, 1975. The school was named in honour of Wes Hosford, a noted pioneer diary farmer from the Salisbury district."
