The Glen Allan neighbourhood is located on the original Allan family farm.
James and Elisabeth Allan first bought the land in 1923, where they raised their four children Margaret, Ralph, Keith and Ken.
The Allan’s were primarily dairy farmers and were a part of the Northern Alberta Dairy Pool. The Salisbury district, which the Allan farm resided in, was known for its dairy production and often called the Dairy Belt of Alberta. It supplied the ever growing demand of milk for the city of Edmonton.
Mrs. Allan, a very modern woman of her time, had her own small business. She raised and sold turkeys, at times almost 300 per year! Elisabeth also had a large and spectacular garden that was well known and admired by the community.
In 1971, Sherwood Park bought the majority of the farm from the Allan family to develop the Glen Allan subdivision. Ken lived on the remaining small section of farm until he passed away in 2004.
