The Gilmore Park Community League has fostered a gathering space for fellow neighbours of all ages. Gilmore Park is a great place to spend the afternoon outdoors, in the playground, having a picnic and exploring the trails. It is where stories are shared and memories are created.
The Gilmore Park Community League was created after discussions about revitalizing the park in 2011. The revitalization project was due to a 5-year-old boy spearheading a pitch-in clean up of Gilmore Park.
Previous play equipment from Gilmore Park and Jean Vanier School was re-located to Honduras by Glen Allan residents. In 2017 the Little Free Library was installed and in 2018 the Gilmore Park Community Garden Group was formed.
"Your team have done a great job with Gilmore Park to make it much more usable. It was a farmer's field with alfalfa and mudholes when we moved in. The playground and soccer field was good, when our kids played, but you made it even better." MacDonald Family
