Bring Your Portraits to Life!

If you want to spend more time with the found object characters you created:

-Make a painting, drawing, or comic strip, inspired by your portrait(s). For some reason these wacky portraits bring to mind the cartoon Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends!!

-Make sock puppets or finger puppets of your characters and put on a show.

-Make an animation based on your portrait(s) on your computer. or as a simple flipbook.

Extreme Portraits!!

16th Century Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo liked to create portraits that were incredible visual "jokes". From a distance his paintings look like a slightly strange person...but up close you see it actually an incredible display of detailed fruits, flowers, even fish! An artist working today, Philip Haas, makes giant 3D sculptures inspired by Arcimboldo's masterpieces. Ask your parents if you can try making an elaborate food portrait...then, if you're still feeling creative, make a painting of it!
