14 December 2024 Hurstville's Christmas Community Markets: A Festive Gathering for All!
Hurstville's Christmas Community Markets are back, bringing another heartwarming day of festive cheer, community spirit, and local support. Once again hosted by St George's Anglican Church in partnership with Anglicare, this year’s markets will take place on Saturday, 14 December, transforming the church grounds into a vibrant, family-friendly celebration.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., shoppers and families can explore a variety of unique stalls offering books, clothing, toys, fresh produce, and more. The market provides an affordable way to find thoughtful Christmas gifts and essentials while supporting local initiatives.
Following last year’s success, the mobile Community Pantry is set to return, offering essentials to locals for just $12. This small contribution not only spreads holiday cheer to families in need but also showcases the community’s commitment to looking out for one another during the festive season.
Funds raised at this year’s market will support two important projects: the Sensory Park project at Hurstville Public School and other community initiatives within Georges River. Every purchase helps these causes and strengthens our vibrant community bonds.
St George’s has prepared for all weather, offering air-conditioned indoor seating and complimentary chilled water so visitors can relax and enjoy the festive vibe in comfort. The church’s dedicated volunteers will once again bring their holiday spirit, with a range of items and delicious food stalls for everyone to enjoy.
Rev. Dr Brian Tung, senior minister at St George’s Anglican Church, is thrilled to see the community come together for another year. “It’s heartening to witness the generosity and support of the Hurstville community,” he shared. “This event goes beyond just raising funds; it’s about connecting with each other and strengthening our community. We’re incredibly grateful to Councillor Ben Wang and Georges River Council for their ongoing support and sponsorship, which make events like these possible.”
