Ishika De has been actively involved and engaged in multiple research projects during her high school journey.
She is a part of the core team for the MIT Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge, which is working towards developing a novel technique to detect micronutrient deficiencies. She is the co-leader of the entire technology segment that deals with the coding and IOT aspects, as well as the development of the prototype.
In 2020, she interned at SHRM Biotechnologies, one of the leading biotechnology companies in Eastern India. Here, she gained research experience in a multitude of areas, namely - proteomics and genomics, computational biology, using the BLAST software, microbiology and mutational trajectories, drug discovery and pharmacokinetics, and computer-aided drug design (CADD).
Presently, she is working on an individual project using the COBWEB (Complexity and Organized Behaviour Within Environmental Bounds) platform. The project is under the guidance of Dr. Brad Bass, Ph.D., Status Professor in the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto.
Ishika is a 3-time EiASSET Talent Search Gold Scholar, scoring above the 99th percentile in the country, making her a part of the Gifted India network.
She has consecutively won Gold in SOF's IEO (International English Olympiad), Silver in SOF's IMO (International Maths Olympiad) and NSO (National Science Olympiad), and Bronze in SOF's NCO (National Cyber Olympiad).
She was part of a team of three participating in the World Scholar's Cup Regional Round, winning- Gold (Individual Debate & Creative Writing) and Silver (Team Debate & Creative Writing).
Ishika is a trained Kathak and Bharatanatyam dancer, which are classical dance forms of India. She has participated in multiple performances and competitions, both solo and group, and won prizes for the same. She has achieved the Junior Diploma certification in Kathak after 5+ years of rigorous training.
She is also a proficient Hindustani Classical musician, focusing mainly on vocals. She has been singing Hindustani music for more than seven years.
