Academic journal of marketing, international business, hospitality, sustainability, and wellness/well-being for scholars, leaders, and readers worldwide.
Manuscripts published in Global Empirical Marketing Studies (GEMS) are archived in the Zenodo open repository to ensure permanent public access, complete with abstracts, valid DOIs, downloadable full-text PDFs, and comprehensive article metrics and metadata. They are also fully indexed in OpenAIRE | EXPLORE, ensuring broad discoverability. Please note that the readership and download metrics displayed on Zenodo reflect only activity within the Zenodo platform. Identical full-text PDFs are also shared for reading and downloading on other scholarly and professional platforms, including LinkedIn, ResearchGate, and Academia. Consequently, the overall reach and engagement of each article extend well beyond the figures reported on Zenodo.
In addition, each article’s abstract is showcased with a direct link to the full-text PDF on X and on our journal’s index page (https://sites.google.com/view/gems-team/index-to-articles). Authors are encouraged to upload the full-text PDF to other platforms that may further expand the article’s visibility. These efforts collectively ensure unparalleled global access for educators, practitioners, administrators, and readers worldwide.
As further proof of GEMS’ emerging prestige and interdisciplinary influence, peer-proximity analysis (PPA) reveals that GEMS articles frequently appear in the same curated bibliographic lists on Grafiati.com as high-impact, Web of Science-indexed, SCImago Q1/Q2, and even ABS 4/4*-ranked journals. This metadata-driven visibility—documented in the recent PPA study—demonstrates strong algorithmic recognition beyond traditional citations.

The CDDI is a simple, fully reproducible method to estimate expected article downloads for any Scopus-indexed journal using only its public CiteScore. Developed by Dr. Chanthika Pornpitakpan (see below) and validated with GEMS Volume 1, the CDDI shows that every article in our inaugural volume already surpasses the PLOS ONE readership benchmark. A gift to the entire open-access community—forever free to use!

Building on the CiteScore-Derived Download Index (CDDI), this new study introduces Peer-Proximity Analysis (PPA)—a powerful, metadata-driven method that assesses the emerging prestige and interdisciplinary reach of open-access journals. It works by examining how GEMS articles cluster algorithmically alongside high-impact, Web of Science-indexed, or SCImago Q1/Q2-ranked publications in curated bibliographic lists on Grafiati.com.
The analysis reveals that GEMS Volume 1 articles appear across diverse interdisciplinary clusters (e.g., consumer behavior, life’s purpose, job market alignment, and global jurisprudence) and are positioned next to prestigious journals with Web of Science indexing, Q1/Q2 quartiles, or ABS 4/4* rankings. This provides strong early evidence of GEMS’ legitimacy and scholarly influence.
