Office of International Services (OIS)

All students who are onboarding as foreign nationals, must go through UIC’s Office of International Services office to assist in the onboarding and matriculation process prior to joining the GEMS program. Per the University of Illinois Chicago, foreign nationals will not be permitted to register for coursework until they have checked in with OIS. https://ois.uic.edu/

For F and J visas, there are a pool of Academic Advisors available to answer questions; all should have the same training and information. If the students experience confusion or are told different things, we can help by reaching out directly to:

International Students: Must apply for a social security # and arrive with a Foreign passport with Form I-94 or Form I-94A with Arrival-Departure Record, with endorsement to work (and/or) Foreign passport containing Form I-551stamp/printed notation.
