In July and August 2022, we held our global citizenship education (GCED) forums online and in Auckland and Christchurch.
Participants could attend any of our three sessions, which were sponsored by the Centres of Asia-Pacific Excellence (CAPEs). Here you can find the supporting resources we shared at these forums.

Our online forum was held via Zoom. You can explore the online presentation that was used on the day and view the presentation and the recorded session below.
2 August 2022 and 9 August 2022
In early August 2022, the CAPEs Education Team ran two GCED forums – one in Auckland at St Cuthbert’s College and the other in Christchurch at St Andrew’s College. The purpose of these forums was to connect with interested teachers and leaders to learn more about the importance of GCED in Aotearoa New Zealand and learn ways of getting started with implementation of the overarching concepts of GCED.
The forums were well attended with around 30 teachers and leaders taking part each day. Participants engaged in interactive activities, explored the background to GCED locally and globally and connected with CAPEs representatives from the three CAPEs regions. You can view the slideshow used on each day at the link below.

“Confirmation that an across-school approach is advantageous. Confirmation that this is not 'a walk in the park' mission!!”
“The way the Framework, UNESCO pillars of learning and the refreshed curriculum will weave together. Enhancing our students’ learning … engage them in real world experiences, encourage creativity, provide them with a voice.”
“I need to find out what is happening in our school so that I can define my role and where this might take me next (or not take me) because it takes energy and I think I'm now at the point where it needs definition.”
“Very difficult to discern the most significant learning opportunity as all learning was excellent! The forum was facilitated in a very professional manner. It was pitched at the right level. The forum was a very inclusive experience.”
“Learning about how I can make small but achievable changes to support tamariki to engage in global citizenship education in my kura context.”
