Are you interested in attending a four-year university to pursue a degree in medicine, allied health, engineering, or information technology?
Are you committed to finding success?
Are you determined and focused?
Are you willing to try, even when you may fail?
BMAH is a challenging four-year high school pathway that prepares students for the rigors of college and careers. Students take honors-level, AP, and college courses during their four years of high school.
A student accepting a seat in an AACPS Magnet Program is expected to participate in learning experiences that may extend beyond the school day, school week, and/or school year. Advanced notice will be provided to ensure that your student can appropriately plan for any such circumstances. Students are expected to remain in the program until graduation and are also expected to be enrolled with a full school day schedule for all four years.
All students are required to participate in skill, volunteer, and internship programs during summers. Information will be provided well in advance regarding requirements. Students that do not complete these requirements will be exited from the program.
Rising 9th graders: STEM Summer program (1-week) and Applied Math Concepts Camp (if students took Math 8 during their 8th grade year)
Rising 10th graders: STEM Summer program (1-week) and virtual Summer Data Camp
Rising 11th graders: Summer of Service; 24 hours
Rising 12th graders: Summer Internship; 135 hours
A student must meet the following academic requirements to remain in an AACPS Magnet Program. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 and have no Ds or Es on their report cards.
Magnet students must adhere to all behavioral and attendance expectations outlined in the AACPS Student Handbook published annually and distributed by the school system. Additionally, as a member of the Magnet Family, your student is always expected to treat classmates, teachers, staff, and community members with respect in all venues including classrooms, virtual meeting platforms, group events outside of the school building, and group sessions outside of class time.
