But what makes Inside different from other horror games is the level design. This is not a typical game where you just escape from the bad guys as fast as possible. Rather, it requires you to think strategically about how to outwit and deceive these creatures. You have to cleverly hide in closets or under the bed before they come into your room. You'll use all of your skills in physics and gravity along with platforming techniques to solve puzzles that will get you further into the story of this game.
Controls and gameplay are familiar to other Playdead previous games. You can only walk left and right, jump and crouch. Just like in Limbo, the game is not triggered by running into it. But rather, it will only run when you hit a button or if there is something that needs to be done. You interact with objects by pushing or pulling them. If they are movable, there will be a color-coded sign on the object so you can easily pick it up. Some doors have locks; you can push boxes on top of these doors to prevent them from opening while you hide inside a closet nearby. However, there is a limit to how far you can push a box. You also have to use objects wisely because some of them are dangerous, like the fire and electricity can be lethal.
Traps are not hard to avoid but they will kill you instantly. Sometimes without even seeing them coming! There are many different traps that can kill you from spikes that shoot out from blocks, sleep gas that comes out of the ground, or being crushed by falling debris. Traps are designed in such a way that they will catch you off guard and keep surprising you as you go along. Some players may find this frustrating at first since it is very difficult to memorize these traps in every level.
