EXPLAINING THE TIME DOT # 1 (1800 CE)
Let us explain this time dot from the vantage point of different continents of the world. The G & G Global Barometer displays them as three zones of the world Euro-America, Africa (Sub-Sahara) and Asia. Since Asia is very populous, we would further subdivide it into more than one vantage point. To some extent, this approach to the sub-dividing world is also true for the other two zones that is despite their unevenness in size, as Asia is home to 80% of the world population, compared with 21% for Euro-America and 1% for Africa (Sub-Sahara).
VIEWING THE WORLD FROM WESTERN AND EASTERN EUROPE IN THE YEAR 1800 CE
In both western and Eastern Europe, their geographic footprint is on an expansion surge, their population are rapidly rising, their economies are thriving in technological transformations in both agriculture and manufacturing, their trade is expanding throughout the world, their military capability under kings, merchants and mercenaries, in every form, is growing to be a highly productive occupation.
There are indeed threats of social economic and military nature. But these are resulting from successes rather than failures in their human endeavours. The promise and pitfalls of success are causing bursting intellectual activity narrating, explaining, justifying and ideologising the change through which they are going through. The Politico-military and economic success are providing enough leisure to support an intellectual outburst.
The above narrative is vastly documented during the last forty to fifty years through a vastly expanded field of economic historians. We shall footnote only a few.
While the economic storytelling of the period is relatively recent the story of the assumed intellectual roots of that success is considerably older. We generally subsume that in the literature of the period of enlightenment. This is highly documented. A few footnotes world suffice.
LANDMARKS AROUND THE YEAR 1800 CE POLITICAL ECONOMIC AND INTELLECTUAL SEEN
Beginning with the French Revolution (1790), the founding of the United States of America (1776), the Tsar's expansion into vast tracts of Asia (_____), the emergence of independent state powers in Latin America (______), the success of the English in their colonial poling around the world. On the whole, the ability of European kings to establish a summit system in Vienna (1815) to engage in controlled violence at home and conquering the world as a group of friends and foes engaged in the enterprise of conquering and, from this vantage point, civilizing a world which discussed to learn from their success and if goes will to themselves from an older world.
The French Revolution, Napoleonic wars the emergence of Marxism, Anarchism, alienation in any ugly urban life, the loss of traditions and valued lifestyles notwithstanding a view of the world from the shares, mountains and plains of Europe is full of hope, triumph, self-confidence and a zeal to create and propagate what they have achieved in terms of philosophy, science, society and statecraft. These abstract emotions coincided with success in geographic expansion, economic prosperity and politico-military control. We have witnessed that in the tables describing demographic and economic data in the previous section, at the end of a hundred years after 1800 CE. There is much gain for the entire Euro-America. We shall have more or that when we move to the time dot number 2 to the year 1900 CE when we describe it in the next section. Meanwhile, we shift our vantage point to time dot 1800 and witness the world from Asia.
