Bio

I am a Food and Nutrition Policy Researcher with a Ph.D in Food and Nutrition Policies and Programs from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Tufts University. My research interests are at the intersection of child obesity prevention, food policy and consumer behavior. My doctoral research involved an evaluation of a national food labeling and advertising policy designed to improve the healthfulness of the food environment and address the obesity epidemic in Chile, particularly among children.

Before my doctorate studies, I worked in a senior programmatic position as Chief of the Obesity Prevention Unit at the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare in Paraguay, where I led the design and implementation of the National Obesity Prevention Strategy 2015-2025. I also worked as Food Revolution Ambassador in Paraguay, where I coordinated an amazing national network of volunteers and collaborated in advocacy processes for childhood obesity prevention policies at national, regional and community levels, with special focus on schools.

I earned a MSc in Food and Nutrition with focus on Health Promotion and Prevention of Chronic Diseases associated with Nutrition from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA), University of Chile and a B.S in Nutrition from the National University of Asunción, Paraguay.
