Driving Question - How do living organisms adapt to survive in their habitat?

We experienced a change in our learning engagement and attempted to adapt to it. We were able to brainstorm challenges in different contexts that lead to unpacking of the central idea of our unit ‘Adaptation’.

We noted our wonder questions, their answers and our overall learning in a visible thinking routine – KWHL

We observed different pictures and shared our perspective about the same.

Finding Out

We read various books on adaptation to find out more about the theme.

We were able to see a world from a horse’s point of view through our Novel Study – Black Beauty

Our focused research on different animals and their adaptations helped us to build on our understanding of the bigger idea of this unit of inquiry.

Conducting various experiments was fun and helped us to make connections with different types of adaptations.

We discussed about different characters from the novel and how they were adapting to change in their life.

Discussions and quizzes about adaptations like Mimicry, Hibernation and Migration helped us to deepen our understanding of the concept.

A session by ‘The Habitats Trust’ was conducted by a wildlife expert Ms. Vaishali Rawat focuses on natural habitats, the lesser known wildlife that survives in them and their various adaptations.

कक्षा में विभिन्न विषयवस्तुओं को पढ़ने के पश्चात् चर्चा के दौरान सभी ने अपनी कार्य करने की विधा चुनी |

We explored the concept of perspective further in mathematics by using different methods to solve problems and understanding that we may all have differences in the ways we solve problems.




Making Conclusions

We were able to identify the importance of butterflies in our ecosystem and why they are getting extinct in city habitats. We reflected on how our actions can help to bring them back to our cities.

By reading Black Beauty, we were able to analyze different characters, made connections, and learned about multiple points of view and it helped us to write our own autobiography.

We created our own imaginary animal and shared its adaptation and how these adaptations help them to survive in its natural habitat.

b) We turned into our imaginary animal, made connections and shared our one day adventure by looking at our routine through that animal’s perspective.

c ) विद्यार्थियों ने चॉइस बोर्ड से विधा कार्य चुनते हुए जीव-जंतुओं ज़िंदगी से जुड़ते हुए विचार व्यक्त किये |
