Feature Project #1 2100 SF Driveway with large side parking area. This driveway is heavy traffic rated and we had to cut and fill certain areas bringing in fill dirt to achieve the required sloping for proper drainage. This sub-base was then mechanically compacted four times. Following that we had a paver-base layer of 9-10" compacted mechanically numerous times each 2" of lift then covered in a screed layer that received the pavers. Driveway was designed to drain towards the street with a slight crown in the middle allowing sheeting of the water slightly off each side on the way towards the street. Pavers were sanded with polymeric joint sand to help with sand retention and mold prevention.
Feature Project #2 - Approximately 1200 SF paver deck with 14' long curved bench around a stone firepit. Curvy walkways meandered from the 2nd floor deck stairs to the paver deck and then again from the paver deck all the way to their beach walkdown. Pavers were pedestrian rated with a base layer approximately 6" deep mechanically compacted in 2" lifts. There was a 1' deep X 2' Wide curved concrete footer placed in the area of the curved bench to prevent any settling from the heavy weight of the solid stone construction of the bench. Then a 1" screed level was spread followed by the pavers. Polymeric joint sand was used to aid in sand retention and mold prevention. This project will come up again under our Concrete Page due to some interesting hurricane damage so stay tuned!!
