“There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

It means believing and professing that Allah is the only God and Muhammad ﷺ is His final prophet. 

Performing the five daily prayers at prescribed times: 

Fajr (dawn)

Dhuhr (noon)

Asr (afternoon)

Maghrib (sunset)

Isha (night)

Giving a fixed portion (usually 2.5%) of one’s savings to the poor and needy. It purifies wealth and helps social equality. 

Fasting during the month of Ramadan from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and sinful behavior to develop self-discipline and spiritual growth. 

Performing pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah at least once in a lifetime, if physically and financially able.
