The Brookline Readers & Leaders is a town-wide, volunteer-led Zoom program that runs every Wednesday evening during the school year.  

Our mission is to build community through the joy and power of words, in all formats.  We aim to serve Brookline school families by focusing on themes of justice, equity, and inclusion, and by celebrating the diversity of cultures, abilities, and opinions within our community.  

Originally known as the Ruffin Ridley Readers & Leaders and started by the FRR Equity PAC in 2020, the Readers & Leaders hope to share stories and foster inclusive community in a way that inspires and equips students to make positive change in their worlds.  In 2022, leaders from BEEP, Lawrence, and Lincoln joined the FRR team to form the Brookline Readers & Leaders.  The 2023-2024 leadership team includes former and current parents, caregivers, and staff from BEEP, Hayes (Heath), Lawrence, Lincoln, Ridley, BHS, and the Public Library of Brookline, each of who are dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion in their own spheres.  

We especially love having students, school staff, and community members as guests to highlight a diversity of interests, identities, and ways to make our worlds a better, kinder place.  We consider this program and our "village" to include everyone who cares about the students who attend Brookline schools and hope to include the other 5 Brookline schools in our leadership over the next 1-2 years; please direct any interested individuals and ideas our way!
