Sammy and Gunner have been in this field for a long time. Here's a video of them!
Though my preference is for you to have an experience free of preconceived ideas about the herd members, here are brief introductions to the equines.
Apple is a 23-year-old Appaloosa mare who has lived on Freckles Farm with her bestie Bonnie for over 15 years.
Bonnie is a 26-year-old Quarter Horse mare that used to play polo. Both she and Apple were part of a therapeutic team that incorporated horses into therapy.
Edie is a 21-year-old Standardbred mare who was rescued this year from a kill pen. Both Sam and Edie are gaining weight and slowly learning to trust humans again.
Gunner is a 12-year-old miniature Appaloosa who used to visit nursing homes, hospitals, and was deputized to work with children who were witnesses of domestic violence, along with his herdmate Sammy.
Sam is a 19-year-old Standardbred who was rescued this year from a kill pen. Both Sam and Edie are gaining weight and slowly learning to trust humans again.
Sammy is a miniature chocolate Palomino gelding and is estimated to be about 16 years old. Nearly a dozen years ago, he came to Freckles Farm.
Wee Donkey is a miniature donkey who was rescued over a decade ago, along with his herdmates, Sammy and Gunner, from a hoarding situation.
