Creating your own sensory bottles is a fun activity that you can do with the children in your care.
They can be completely customized using things you already have in your home and provide a variety of different sensory experiences and are useful tools for self-regulation and often used as a grounding technique.
I personally enjoy creating different ones for the season or holiday. Spooky floating ghosts for Halloween, heart sequins and red and pink glitter for Valentine's Day, straws cut into various lengths with some rice in the spring to mimic the sound of rain. Have a child who is a fan of soccer? Why not add soccer sequins and green glitter. The possibilities are literally endless, which is what makes this a truly unique tool to add to your calming corner.
