An ECR is an Extended Constructed Response and is a 5 paragraph essay. One of our goals for the year is to have students learn to write this type of response. Of course, this takes a lot of practice! Many families ask me for practice resources so they can support their child's learning at home.
The resources below are based on released STAAR test passages. Passages are provided by the TEA (Texas Education Agency, 2025), with prompts created by Straightforward STAAR Prep (2025). Feel free to have your student turn in their practice ECR's to me for feedback.
