Technical Institute
Wesleyan Technical Institute Namayingo
The future for young people in rural Uganda is bleak if they can't get the skills needed for employment. Training is costly and only available to some, but new opportunities are opening up in one of the poorest districts in Uganda.
The Wesleyan Church of Uganda in conjunction with FOCUS On Uganda is developing a technical institute to train young people in income producing skills in a Christian environment. This facility is being developed in the Namayingo District in southeastern Uganda along Lake Victoria where no other vocational training is available. Dorms, classrooms and other buildings began construction in 2023. Completing the first phase, so that students can begin training soon is a prime goal. Initial courses in agriculture, construction, tailoring, and baking are designed to not only teach skills but also produce products that will raise funds for the school. This will help those who have difficulty paying and help the school become self-sustaining.
Contributions are needed to complete this facility including furnishings and equipment. It's hard to comprehend how much this Institute is needed until you see the young people and parents who have little hope in finding support for their families. They are hard working people who just need this opportunity. You can make a difference in their future. Please contribute today.

FOCUS On Uganda is coming full circle to see that a vocational school is developed in southeastern Uganda in one of the poorest districts. Construction has been underway since January 2023 to prepare for the opening of the Wesleyan Technical Institute Namayingo but $60,000 is still needed to complete phase one of the campus and provide the furnishings and supplies NEEDED to train the first 40 students whose lives will be changed because of this training.
High school dropout rate is high in this district and unemployment is extremely high because of a lack of SKILLS. The future for young people is bleak without the hope of income, which leads to alcoholism and very high teen pregnancy rates. We are hoping to break this cycle.
Your contribution of any amount will be a blessing.
