The Fantome came about due to the large numbers of requests for a version of the Spearfish but with an aft cabin. It was decided to take a plug of the Huntsman 31 in GRP as this hull had proved to give a good soft 'dry' ride along with good all round handling qualities.

In 1973, the first boat built won the Boat of the Show award at the London Boat Show of that year. 'Basta' race no. 174 competed in the Cowes-Torquay race. Fantomes can be found in Libya; The Shetland Islands; Japan; Belgium and The Maldive Islands
