Tuition Assistance is a benefit for eligible UHealth Tower employees in a Collective Bargaining unit and pursuing a college degree at the undergraduate level (associate's or bachelor's). Tuition Assistance is provided each semester in the form of a voucher or reimbursement for approved courses from accredited schools at a maximum of $5,500 per calendar year for full-time and $3,300 for part-time employees.
Subject to the availability of funds, students enrolled in a key shortage profession program and taking required/major courses or clinical courses (not general education courses or pre-requisites) will have a total maximum of $9,000 (for undergraduate students) per calendar year.
Before enrolling in a program, you must consult with a Training Fund representative to ensure your program is approved for Tuition Assistance since there are some non-healthcare majors that the benefit does not cover. In general, programs that advance your career at UHealth Tower or are in a healthcare-related field are approved.
After successfully completing accredited college courses, the Tuition Assistance Reimbursement Program reimburses you for approved tuition costs. Courses that satisfy program requirements leading to an undergraduate degree are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Non-credit courses are ineligible for reimbursement.
You are encouraged to take advantage of the low-cost, high quality education offered through Miami Dade College, Broward College, Florida International University and University of Central Florida. The Tuition Assistance Voucher Program allows you to take courses without paying upfront tuition costs. The benefit provides you with a voucher for required courses that satisfy program requirements leading to an undergraduate degree. Vouchers are not provided for non-credit courses.
Many healthcare workers must earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to keep their licenses current, while others seek new information in their field. The Training Fund can help you cover the costs of your Continuing Education programs. YOU can use CE Reimbursement for job or health related training to expand YOUR skills.
As an 1199SEIU member, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for certification or training fees up to $1,000 per calendar year for CEUs and approved professional development courses. To obtain reimbursement, you must submit a complete application with all supporting documents to the Training and Upgrading Fund within 90 days of completing the course.
To be eligible for Tuition Assistance for Degree Programs, Reimbursement for Continuing Education, and the Graduate Scholarship Program you must meet the following general requirements:
