part of Red-Tail McVey Memorial Forest

In partnership with Red-Tail Land Conservancy, FlatLand Resources designed and installed a prairie in the McVey Memorial Forest area with the purpose of preserving the water quality of the lake on the preserve. The land is surrounded by farming operations and as a precautionary measure, the prairie was designed to filter and resolve any runoff from the surrounding area that may contribute to algae blooms in the pond. This project was purely precautionary, but given the high concentration of phosphorous and nitrogen, environmentally conscious measures were taken to ensure water quality.
