Located just off of State Route 32 in Muncie, this 33 acre public nature preserve is located on the former Ernst nursery site. FlatLand resources proudly partnered with Red-Tail Nature Conservancy to design a space that transitions from a short grass prairie to upland woods to a scrub-shrub wetland. A one mile gravel trail winds through the prairie, woods, and wetlands and loops back to the parking lot and nature play space at the entrance. Originally proposed solely as a nature preserve, this space serves the surrounding area as a location for wildlife, native plant species, and nature education in a semi-urban setting.
We are avidly dedicated to environmental education and conservation through design. We proudly work with Red-Tail Land Conservancy to design and implement spaces that are educational and accessible to the public. At Dutro-Ernst, we designed and built the trails that wind through the site and planted the prairie. This site was completed in 2019 and continues to serve the public.
