FlatLand Resources founder, Phil Tevis, served as the project manager for the Cardinal Greenway depot restoration in the early 2000’s. This project included the restoration and rebuilding of the historic train depot to serve as the Cardinal Greenway office along the trail.
In the midst of the building remodel, the original roof tile molds were discovered, dating back to when the depot was first built. In the interest of preserving historical accuracy and a piece of Indiana craftmanship, they were able to track down the original manufacturer of the tiles in Cincinatti Ohio through a local source. Each of the tiles were handmade and donated to the Cardinal Greenway.
The restoration project, funded by INDOT, spanned a year and a half. The project included water damage mitigation, reconstruction, and a redesign of the depot with historical accuracy and preservation in mind.
