Recreational Poison
Stale blood runs dry,
In a body dismembered,
Lacking fellowship of kin in arms,
And holy faithfulness halted,
Dark silence grows in stature,
Spreading from home to home,
A cold front of callous dispassion,
Hearts desperate for warmth break
Under the tyranny of Jonah's folly repeated,
Devils of smoke and rocks and liquid rule them,
Consumed from glass idols,
Breach flesh to fill it with avarice,
Open the damning tide,
Dam the compassion,
Stain the soul with amber,
Bobbing like corks on the tides,
Floating listlessly on chem clouds,
Without a care in the world through unthinking,
Huffing and coughing up gaseous apathy,
Gasping for air, while drowning in the drink.
