It could be your hormones. Many scientific studies show that balancing your hormones can help you feel rested, relaxed, and in control of our mind and body. Every woman deserves to have good health.
What are hormones?
“Hormones are your bodies, chemical messengers.”- https://medlineplus.gov/hormones.html Hormones help our bodies function. If you have struggled with infertility, menstrual periods, or menopause, then you are not a stranger to hormones. But dealing with sex hormones is just the tip of the hormone iceberg. If you have days where you just feel like crying or being angry, or you are overly happy, then your hormones are working! At times our bodies will produce too many hormones or not enough. This imbalance of hormones can have lifesaving or devastating effects to our health. Learning how our hormones affect our daily lives, and how to help them stay in balance is the key. Women have a harder time keeping up with their body’s hormones than men do. Women have higher rates of depression, anxiety and thyroidism. Especially if you are pregnant, have recently (within the last 5 years) given birth. Your hormone levels are all over the place. When we go through a difficult time in life then our hormones are affecting the way we digest food, think about things, and even how we feel. Ask your doctor today to check your hormones. All it takes is a simple blood test.
Why do our bodies need minerals and vitamins?
I know what you’re thinking, what do minerals and vitamins have to do with hormones? Well, studies show that our hormones are out of balance because our minerals and vitamins are also out of balance. The vitamins and minerals we put into our bodies fuel our machine of a body. They make it run smoothly. When we do not have the right amount of nutrients our body trys to compensate for the lack. Here are a few common mineral and vitamin deficiencies.
-n-3 PUFA (Omega 3 Fatty Acids)-
-Iodine
-Vitamin D
-Calcium
-Iron
-Vitamin B (B6 and B12 are more commonly deficient)
-Folate
-Zinc
-Selenium
Balancing our vitamin and mineral levels is as easy as a blood test (along with your hormones) at your doctor’s office. Some of us will do fine with taking a multivitamin at bedtime, while others of us need more…and a few will need even more.
The correlation between Hormones and Vitamins.
When we eat food, that food is composed of certain nutrients. That nutrient is then digested and taken where it would be the most used. Sometimes, even if we feed our bodies enough of a certain amount of nutrients, they will not absorb them. We will then need to take the nutrient another way. (injection, intravenous, etc.)
When the nutrient is taken where it needs to go, it can then help our body work properly and stay balanced. If our body is out of balance, the messages our body sends could be inaccurate. Your body could create too much cortisol (the stress hormone) and if that happens for long enough, other systems will start to notice and try to make up for the imbalance happening. This will then create more imbalances, and a whole system malfunction will occur. This is usually the point where our minds become aware of the problem and we seek help from the internet, doctors, our friends, family, etc.
I’m here to tell you that this doesn’t have to be your story. You are not crazy for being tired, sad, out of control, or super emotional. It could be your hormones telling you, (or screaming) that they need your help to restore balance in your body. The action I want you to take is to make an appointment with your doctor, (yes, it is worth knowing) to get some blood work done to check your vitamins, minerals, and hormone levels. You are worth taking care of, Mama. I’m here with you. ~Feeling Good, Babe
