~Feeling Good, Babe
Hi, I'm Aliese! I am a stay-at-home parent. I have 5 beautiful children, an extremely supportive husband, and an old crotchety cat named Nacho. Let me paint you a picture of my story. I homeschooled my 3 older children from 2016-2021. I serve in my community and church. I am involved in my children’s extracurricular activities.
In 2018, my family was in a terrible car accident that sent my 2-yr old to the hospital with a concussion and fractured skull. He had temporary hearing loss in one ear and a broken foot. That same weekend I found out I was expecting our 5th child. I felt joy and anxiety at the prospect of having another sweet baby.
I gave birth to my sweet baby in 2019. Her birth was beautiful and traumatic for me. It took me a long time to heal physically, and even longer emotionally. About a year after having my baby, and with the Covid-19 quarantine in place, I started to feel tired, irritable and drained of energy. I felt wired and tired ALL THE TIME! I thought it could have been because I homeschool my children, or I have 5 children, or because I was serving in a larger capacity at my church then. It could be my marital issues.
Needless to say, I had a bit of stress. I have since learned that I have PTSD, clinical postpartum and situational depression, generalized anxiety disorder, adrenal fatigue, hyperthyroid malfunctions, and other various hormone imbalances.
I initially went in to see my doctor because of my menstrual period. I was having 21+ days of bleeding on a 31-day cycle. My doctor is a naturopathic MD. She tested my blood for all the normal things, but also tested me for vitamin, mineral, and hormone levels as well.
Many of my hormones were out of balance, my body was making an excessive amount of cortisol which was putting too much stress on my body and starting to affect organ systems to slow down. I have worked with my doctor now for 2 years. This has not been a quick-fix journey, but I have more energy now and am on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and many supplements to help me continue healing.
I have my children in in-person school now, and my baby is 4 years old. I am in my second year of BYU-Pathway Worldwide and am working on moving my body every day in a way that doesn’t cause too much physical stress.
I want to show you that healing is possible and that you can get the help you need. You are not crazy for thinking that something is wrong. You were given intuition for a reason. Trust your body, trust your mind. I’m here with you, you can do this!
After having a baby, your body will change and continue to change up to 5 years. Crazy! We are here to support you along that journey.
Like all of us, we are a work in progress. Please be patient with us as we get social media all connected. Thanks!
