ASPIRE Kick-off Workshop:
Towards Spin Qubits of Electrons on Solid Neon
We are pleased to announce a one-day hybrid workshop titled “Towards Spin Qubits of Electrons on Solid Neon.”
When: May 18, 2026, starting at 9:00 (Japan Standard Time)
Venue: Large Conference Room, 2F, HQ Building C00, RIKEN Wako Campus and Zoom
This workshop is organized as part of the JST ASPIRE program, “Realization of Spin Qubits Using Floating Electrons on Solid Neon,” in collaboration with Mónica Benito (University of Augsburg, Germany), Dafei Jin (University of Notre Dame, USA), and Xianjing Zhou (Florida State University, USA). Participation is open to anyone affiliated with a university or research institution who is interested in supporting the floating-electron research.
We aim to explore electrons on solid neon as a platform for quantum information processing. Recent progress in this system has opened new possibilities for realizing highly coherent qubits in a clean, well-controlled environment. In particular, leveraging the spin degree of freedom provides a promising pathway toward scalable quantum computation.
In addition to formal presentations, the workshop is designed to foster open discussions and stimulate new collaborations. We also welcome researchers beyond the floating-electron community, especially those working on spin-based quantum systems and related areas.
Speakers:
Dafei Jin (University of Notre Dame)
Xianjing Zhou (Florida State University)
Monica Benito (University of Augsburg)
Toshiaki Kanai (Washington University)
Peter Stano (RIKEN)
Yuuki Yasui (the University of Tokyo)
Kaiwen Zheng (Washington University)
+ short talks from early-career researchers
