The floating-electron-based quantum information RIKEN Hakubi research team is part of RIKEN Center for Quantum computing and Cluster for Pioneering Research.
We are working on the application of electrons floating on liquid helium and solid neon for quantum information. This physical system has a high potential to provide an ideal platform for realizing a quantum computer, as it is free of impurities and defects. Additionally, we are focusing on the technological development required for large-scale quantum computation.

News!
Our international collaborative project “Realization of Spin Qubits Using Floating Electrons on Solid Neon” has been selected for the JST ASPIRE program and officially started in December 2025, in collaboration with Mónica Benito (University of Augsburg, Germany), Dafei Jin (University of Notre Dame, USA), and Xianjing Zhou (Florida State University, USA).
We are currently seeking motivated researchers to join this project. Further details are available here.
