ASSIGNMENT 1A
The Low Energy Building Analysis focuses on strategies and technologies that minimize energy consumption in buildings while maintaining comfort and functionality. This analysis explores the integration of passive design principles, high-performance materials, and energy-efficient systems to reduce a building’s environmental impact. By assessing factors such as insulation, natural lighting, ventilation, and renewable energy sources, the study provides insights into creating sustainable buildings that align with modern energy standards. The goal is to achieve a balance between energy efficiency and occupant well-being, contributing to a more sustainable built environment.
ASSIGNMENT 1B
The Energy Efficient Green Building Site Visit provided hands-on insight into sustainable building practices and technologies in action. During the visit, I observed how green building principles are implemented, focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation, and the use of eco-friendly materials. Key features included the integration of renewable energy systems, advanced insulation, and smart building technologies that optimize resource use. This experience highlighted the practical application of green design strategies, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices in reducing the environmental impact of buildings while enhancing their performance and livability.
ASSIGNMENT 2
The Energy Audit E-Report is a comprehensive analysis of a building's energy consumption aimed at identifying opportunities for improvement. The report details energy usage patterns, evaluates the efficiency of existing systems, and highlights areas where energy is being wasted. Through data collection, monitoring, and assessment of heating, cooling, lighting, and electrical systems, the audit provides actionable recommendations for reducing energy consumption. This e-report serves as a valuable tool for optimizing energy performance, lowering operational costs, and supporting sustainability goals by promoting more efficient energy use.
SUMMARY
In the Energy and Architecture course, I learned to integrate energy efficiency with architectural design, focusing on sustainability. The course emphasized how elements like orientation, materials, and systems impact a building's energy performance. By applying passive design techniques and renewable energy solutions, I gained practical skills for creating environmentally responsible and energy-efficient designs. This experience deepened my commitment to sustainable architecture and highlighted the importance of mindful design in addressing global energy challenges.
