With the title Expressions through Architecture Design Elements and Principles, this project aims to introduce basic understanding of architectural design elements and principles, processes and approaches in generating new ideas, developing design, creating geometric 2D artworks (tattoo stamp) and 3D forms (model).
We are to build a 1:1 bamboo structure in a group of 20 based on our allocated task, which is to celebrate, measuring 2m by 2m by 2m. The goal of this assignment is to assess our knowledge of anthropometry, ergonomics, joinery, and the application of the design ideas and elements discovered in Project 1. Additionally, we must produce a bunch of study models and document the design process in an organised sketch diary.
Create a spatial narrative, transform it to an architectural journey with a sequence of two to three spaces, and develop the sensorial experience of your spaces. Re-examine the activity and specific action from the 1:1 structure from project 2.
Reflection
The projects in Architectural Design 1, aided in my development and refinement of my overall creative process from the inception of an idea to its completion, as well as my understanding of fundamental architectural design concepts and features. Additionally, it gave me the opportunity to build a 1:1 structure, which grounded my expertise in the real-world applications of design. I learned how to construct my structures with a clear meaning and purpose thanks to the tutorials and lectures, which were also very helpful in assisting and directing my designs to be more coherent to my subject. This was particularly helpful because crit sessions were frequent and nearly always face-to-face, providing me immediate feedback on my evolving concepts and designs.
