Architectural diagrams based on a designated building are translated and analyzed in groups of six. Create a set of architectural drawings and a set of five diagrams for analysis using models and diagrams. Drawings should be manually drawn on 6-8 landscape-oriented A3-sized paper.
In a breakout of 3 students from Project 1, design a pavillion based on architectural language that was learned from the previous project. Generate forms and craft spaces that are sustainable and harmonious ways of living in a contemplative manner. Choose a tropical rainforest site condition and research on materiality, communicate the ideas through manually drawn drawings in 4-8 lanscape-oriented A3-sized papers, and model with a maximum volume of 125 m3.
Project 3 required the creation of a tropical sanctuary for myself and another user. We visited the National Botanical Garden in Shah Alam and produced a site analysis to show how we reacted to the micro-site chosen in our design for workshop activities. Moving on, it leads to the final result of Project 3, where the built-up area requirement is 100 sq m, and we must apply the workshop expertise to produce the final design. Drawings must be hand-drawn on three A1-sized papers that are landscape-oriented.
Reflection
My design style has been significantly influenced by the emphasis made throughout the module on diagramming and constructing with architectural principles, materiality, and context with the user. I learned how useful diagrams are for analysis and communication since they help me distil complex ideas into understandable examples. I used architectural ideas like scale, proportion, and rhythm to create beautiful compositions. By understanding the characteristics and expressive possibilities of various materials, I was able to make informed decisions that enhanced the general aesthetic appeal of my designs.
At every stage of the design process, I've learned to base my designs on the context and the demands of the user. I now have a solid foundation and a comprehensive understanding of architectural design, which allows me to create significant and valuable designs.
