Hong-Cheol Choi received the ACRP Graduate Research Award

Hong-Cheol Choi has received the ACRP (Airport Cooperative Research Program) Graduate Research Award from Transportation Research Board, National Academies. The ACRP Graduate Research Award is intended to stimulate thought, discussion, and research by those who may become future airport managers, operators, designers, and policymakers in aviation. The focus of this graduate student research program is on applied research on airport and related aviation system issues to help the public sector continue to improve the quality, reliability, safety, and security of the U.S. civil aviation system well into the foreseeable future. Prof. Hwang named University Faculty Scholar

Prof. Inseok Hwang has been named a University Faculty Scholar. The University Faculty Scholar program was created at Purdue in 1998. Recipients of this honor are tenured associate professors and full professors who have been in that rank for no more than five years and are named in recognition of their scholarship.

University Faculty Scholars are nominated by their academic areas, reviewed by a committee of named and distinguished professors in the College of Engineering that makes a recommendation to the dean, and approved by the provost. They receive funding to support their research. The newly named University Faculty Scholars will begin their five-year terms in the fall of 2017. (learn more)

Jooyoung awarded Magoon Teaching Assistant Award

Jooyoung Lee (Ph.D. Student) has been awarded Magoon Teaching Assistant Award for 2015-2016 academic year.

This award recognizes outstanding teaching assistants and instructors through funds generated by a trust established by Estes H. and Vashti L. Magoon. Mrs. Magoon died in 1986, just prior to her 103rd birthday. Through this award, they have influenced the careers of many engineering educators.

Sangjin awarded a fellowship

Sangjin Lee (Ph.D. Student) has been awarded the Bisland Dissertation Fellowship for the 2015-16 academic year.

The Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship, administered by Purdue’s Graduate School, provides support to outstanding Ph.D. candidates in their final year of doctoral degree completion. Bilsland Fellows are expected to devote full-time effort to the completion of all doctoral degree requirements to receive their degree at the conclusion of the fellowship tenure.

Scott awarded a fellowship

Scott Yantek (Master's Student) has received the Arvin-Calspan research fellowship. Yantek is studying with Professor Inseok Hwang in the research areas of UAS Security Analysis and Unmanned Vehicles.

The Arvin-Calspan fellowship is a two year fellowship that is awarded on a rotating basis between AAE, IE, ECE and ME. The candidate must be a U.S.citizen with a "well-defined research project in areas relevant to the design and manufacture of land based vehicle systems". The student can be an M.S. or Ph.D. student.
