Fast Food News is absolute AI-generated nonsense. This is quite obvious if you look at the articles page for more than, say, 5 seconds. The question is, how do you even get today's advanced, professional AI models to generate nonsense this nonsensical?
Enter Dreamily. Dreamily is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the worst AI I have EVER used. It constantly seems like it's on crack. Maybe it is on crack. I honestly would not be surprised. I discovered Dreamily back in the early days of GPT-3 when it was new and cool and exclusive. I used GPT-3 to write funny fake biographies about kids in my class. Then, I ran out of usage and needed another AI model. Novel AI? No, that's too expensive. Character AI? No, and that's a whole different story, but whatever. Dreamily was free and designed to write stories, which was just what I needed. After the ChatGPT Biographies saga had ended, I kept using Dreamily to write amazing novels such as "eeeeeeeeeeee," "The Entire History Of The Earth, I Guess" (a completely original idea), "Ohio Survival Tips," "The Adventure," and "Beefy Cheese."
In the middle of writing Beefy Cheese, Dreamily decided that it didn't want to write about Beefy Cheese anymore. It wanted to write about something else. This was completely unprompted, but it was absolutely hilarious. I just ran with it, took the stories, and put them on a Google Doc. Then, the Google Doc got laggy as hell, and I decided to put them on a Google Site instead. A few years later, and here we are!
Dreamily is shutting down.
It was bound to happen at some point. You can't keep running the AI that acts like it's on crack all the time and expect people to stay with your app when there are literally thousands of other apps that do it better. I wholeheartedly believe that I was one of the last people still using Dreamily.
Yes, I could use ChatGPT or Claude and ask it to replicate the writing style, but it just wouldn't be the same. Too coherent. Who wants that? If I can't use the same AI, there will be no more articles for Fast Food News.
Did you notice that I said, "If I can't use the same AI?" That's because while Dreamily is shutting down, its Chinese counterpart Xiaomengai isn't. Yep, Dreamily is Chinese! Who would have guessed? Could that be the reason that every word of English that it speaks is utter nonsense? Who knows...
Anyway, I tested Xiaomengai, and it is quite literally the exact same as Dreamily except for the fact that all of the UI is written in Chinese. The AI speaks English just as horribly as Dreamily does. Fast Food News is here to stay, folks, at least for now! For better or for worse. Hooray!!!
On a similar note, I plan on revamping the website. Google Sites isn't really working. Having to outsource a random article picker to Wheel of Names and the Find tool is really annoying. At some point, every article is going into a data file, and then I'll have all sorts of things I can do with them. Maybe I'll ask Xiaomengai to vibe code a website. Surely nothing could possibly go wrong, right?
