I recently participated in a three-day intensive training program at icddr,b on laboratory animal handling for biomedical research. The training offered a perfect balance of ethical insights and practical skills, starting with the principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) and global standards for animal welfare.
During the hands-on sessions, I gained valuable experience in animal handling, gendering, blood withdrawal, injections, anesthesia, and force-feeding. I also actively contributed to maintaining hygiene protocols and demonstrated proper handling techniques under supervision.
The final day covered autopsy, euthanasia, and carcass disposal, along with discussions on pharmaceutical testing and zoonotic diseases, enhancing my understanding of the broader implications of animal research. This training strengthened both my technical abilities and ethical commitment in conducting responsible animal-based studies.
Completed a structured training program focused on core research competencies, including research idea generation, literature review, research methodology design, and research proposal development.Â
Gained practical skills in data analysis and scientific writing essential for academic and applied research.
