Empowering ESL Teachers Through Digital Portfolios
I designed a one-day professional development workshop that introduced ESL teachers to digital portfolios using Google Sites. The session guided participants through creating their own ePortfolios, embedding multimedia resources, and reflecting on their teaching practices. By the end of the workshop, teachers built functional portfolios to showcase their instructional growth, integrate technology into their classrooms, and support ongoing professional reflection and assessment. Another goal of the project was to introduce Google Suite tools as Open Educational Resources (OER) for teachers.
As part of the EDCI 569 course, I designed another eLearning module using Adobe Captivate, focusing on student wellbeing. This course is designed to help students develop an action plan for prioritizing their mental health and making full use of the resources available on campus.
It incorporates scenario-based learning, interactive elements, multimedia resources, and practical activities to actively engage learners.Â

Throughout my extensive years of teaching ESL, I have designed numerous courses tailored to learners from diverse backgrounds and age groups. My approach to course development prioritizes needs analysis and learner characteristics, ensuring that each course fosters an engaging and impactful learning environment.
One of my recent projects involved designing a college-level English course. For this course, I curated materials to make the learning experience both effective and engaging while designing assessments that were closely aligned with the teaching objectives and the skills being evaluated. As a seasoned ESL teacher, I view assessment as an integral part of learning. I emphasize formative assessment as a tool to reinforce learning and provide continuous feedback.
In addition to this course, I have planned and delivered several others, including an English Intensive Program, a Teacher Training Program for Colombian School English Teachers, and a Corporate English Language Course.
