A Year In The Life started as a 3 part TV Mini series which aired in December 1986 following the lives of the Gardner Family .

After the success of the Mini Series NBC Launched a one hour weekly series which aired in the 1987 to 1988 season for 22 episodes. A second series was not commissioned.
