Everyone has a creative side. Letting children express that creative side at a young age is very important. It helps them find themselves. They are granted freedom to pursue what they desire. In every day tasks, everyone is still being creative in some way. Creativity allows students to express how they are feeling in other ways besides words. By valuing creativity, students become more engaged, motivated, and equipped to contribute in the classroom.
In this article, it explains why it is so important for children to have a creative experience. It can help them through any emotions they are feeling, or through communicative avenues other than verbal.
I love being able to watch students creativity side show in the classroom. In my fieldwork classrooms, every students art project is different. It shows a different part of them expressed on paper.
