In connection with the expansion of the functional activity of the Faculty of Economics and the opening of the specialty "Accounting and Audit" in accordance with the rector's order No. 75/0 dated May 20, 1999, the Department of "Accounting and Finance" was reorganized into the Department of "Accounting and Audit" and the Department of "Finance ".
Since 1999, the Department of Accounting and Auditing has been operating as an independent unit of the Faculty of Economics. The department was able to graduate accounting and auditing specialists almost from the moment of its creation, as it received student groups from the first to the fifth year. From the day of its creation until August 31, 2010, the department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Leonid Ivanovych Stadnik.
Today, the department is headed by candidate of economic sciences, associate professor S.M. Khomovy.
As of September 1, 2016, recruitment in the specialty "Accounting and Audit" was stopped and recruitment was started at the bachelor's, specialist and master's training levels under the new direction 07 "Management and administration", specialty 071 "Accounting and taxation" in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 29, 2015 No. 266 "On approval of the list of fields of knowledge and specialties for which higher education applicants are trained." Therefore, the department was renamed to the Department of Accounting and Taxation. Since September 1, 2017, the recruitment of students by the level of training - specialist in Ukraine has been stopped.
The Department of Accounting and Taxation is a graduating department for students majoring in "Accounting and Taxation". The entire teaching staff of the department directs its activities to ensure the competitiveness of future accounting and taxation specialists in the labor market, as well as their ability to:
develop and establish organizational forms of accounting work at enterprises of various forms of ownership and types of activity;
to ensure control and display on accounting accounts of all business operations, provision of operational information, compilation and submission of accounting and statistical reports within the established period;
carry out an economic analysis of the economic activity of enterprises in order to identify and mobilize intra-economic reserves;
develop a system of internal accounting, reporting and activity control.
As a result of training, an accounting and taxation specialist is prepared for professional activity and can hold positions in the accounting services of enterprises, institutions, organizations, depending on the acquired professional level (theoretical and practical knowledge), as well as the requirements set according to the scope of work of a particular enterprise: chief accountant , leading accountant, auditor-auditor, auditor, cashier, teacher of economic disciplines in educational institutions, economist, adviser on economic issues and others.
Employees of the department in their daily work pay great attention to the education of student youth, both during the educational process and in extracurricular time - this is the moral credo of the department.
As a result, upon graduation, specialists meet the basic requirements for a specialist in this specialty - to be proactive, to constantly improve the level of knowledge, to perform their functional duties in accordance with the requirements of the law, to have high moral qualities, to be fluent in the state language and professionally one of the foreign languages, to be erudite, cultured, to know the ethics of business communication.
In addition to educational and methodological support, educational work, the teaching staff of the department constantly works to improve its scientific level. The results of the conducted scientific research become the basis of material for publications and the execution of candidate and doctoral theses.
