Factorio installation options

Option 1
- Get the full game from the factorio website
Option 2
- Use SteamCMD

With all options this guide will use the following assumptions:

Factorio installation location will be: C:\Factorio
SteamCMD installation location will be: C:\SteamCMD

Option 1

Go to the factorio website. Link
Login with your factorio credentials
Download the latest Stable or Experimental build
- MS Windows (64 bit zip package)
- Not the headless builds those are linux only
Extract the zip file on the location of your choice.
- Example: C:\Factorio

Option 2

Download SteamCMD > Ditect-Link or Website link
Copy the content of the steamcmd.zip to a location of your choice
1. Example: C:\SteamCMD
Run the SteamCMD.exe. This will install/unpack the program in the current folder.
- When the program is done type: Exit
- Then press Enter to close the window.
Download the Zip package or just the "Factorio-Update-Server v1.xx.bat", at the following page. "Downloads"
If you got the Package just unzip it at any location.
Open the Factorio-Update-Server v1.xx.bat with notepad++
- Right click the file Factorio-Update-Server v1.xx.bat select "open with" or "edit with notepad++"
Fill-out the following:
1. Steam username
2. Steam password
- If needed update the following as-well:
1. STEAMCMD_PATH : this is the root location of SteamCMD
2. Factorio_root: this is the root location of Factorio

Example: Factorio-Update-Server v1.xx.bat

Run Factorio-Update-Server v1.xx.bat
1. Currently its configuration, to get the latest Stable version of the game. If you want the Experimental/beta version just remove the > :: < on the line 38 and add them before line 35
When everything is configured correctly, then you have updated Factorio through SteamCMD.

First screen when you run the update file. It holds at this screen, so you have time to check if the locations are correct. This is useful for bug fixing "writing errors".
