Augmentations & Implants
The human body in this time is a rather malleable object, modified commonly by assistive technologies that are implanted into one’s body. Though many old implants once operated using packaged Oneirum, the modern bionic implant integrates itself with one’s bodily functions to power themselves with only a minor increase in a person’s nutrient intake, or in some cases, charged electronically from an outside source. Old-form Oneirum implants, though very powerful, have largely been phased out and turned into simple oddities due to the rarity of packaged Oneirum.
Manufacturers
The most popular manufacturers in the Implant market include Firmament Corporation, GIB, and Cyberkend. Firmament Corporation operates primarily upon refurbishing old implant models and readapting old Oneirum technology, as GIB specializes in creating neurally-synchronized Implants that directly link to a person’s nervous system, while Cyberkend focuses on creating full-replacement prosthetic Implants. The cost of Implants remains rather high for the average person, about as much as one would expect to pay for a personal vehicle, especially considering the combined cost of installation, maintenance, and the Implant itself.
