Overview:
The Thanatology Study Club (T.S.C.) is the most influential and longest-surviving student-formed collective within the Back Wing. Initially structured as an academic auxiliary under Professor Bloodwing’s supervision, the club has evolved into a semi-autonomous organization with its own internal hierarchy, coded laws, and behavioral structure.
While officially tasked with “the study and practical understanding of postmortem processes and death ethics,” T.S.C. operates as an informal governing body within the Back Wing, controlling interactions between lesser groups and mediating disputes through intimidation, negotiation, or disappearance.
Formation and Early History:
The club was founded by Nik/Nikki, a Spider Exper whose influence and charisma rapidly attracted both respect and fear. The first recorded member, Raven, served as co-founder and vice president before her sudden and “uninvestigated” death—an event that marked the start of T.S.C.’s infamy.
Following Raven’s passing, Slith (a Sand Snake Exper of elevated background and volatile temperament) assumed vice presidency, solidifying the club’s dominance. Subsequent additions—Snaps, an Angler Exper with a penchant for photographic documentation; Crow, a masked Ghoul Exper; and Claudia, a reconstructed corpse Exper—completed the current roster.
Current Operations:
T.S.C. maintains semi-permanent residence within Professor Bloodwing’s Thanatology classroom and the graveyard sector, conducting both sanctioned and unsanctioned “field studies.” Their activities range from assisting in body processing and burial to independent observation of decay and mortality response in living Expers.
Reports suggest T.S.C. holds a network of informants and enforcers throughout the Back Wing, often referred to as “gravediggers” by other students. Those who cross or threaten the club’s members are frequently reported missing, later reappearing silent—or not at all.
Despite its sinister reputation, T.S.C. is paradoxically seen as a symbol of order. The group enforces rules, prevents outbreaks, and upholds a strict code of internal loyalty. Professor Bloodwing has declined to dissolve the organization, citing its “academic merit” and “stabilizing influence.”
Sociological Note:
Members of T.S.C. exhibit unusually high emotional control and intellectual coherence compared to other Expers. Their fascination with mortality serves as a psychological anchor, transforming fear into ritual and grief into identity.
Nik is considered one of the most persuasive individuals in E.I. history—a natural manipulator who maintains control through affection, charisma, and fear, often in equal measure. Though their methods are unorthodox, even staff acknowledge her influence as invaluable to maintaining Back Wing order.
Administrative Warning:
While not officially a containment threat, the T.S.C. is to be monitored but not provoked. Their cooperation with institutional protocols outweighs the risk of disruption.
Status: Contained. Observation ongoing.
