Once the principal of a renowned academy in the modern world, Dr. Pen’s career collapsed after his wife became the subject of an experimental procedure—one that transformed her into a hostile Exper. Her attempted attack left him no choice but to end her life himself. Rather than turning away from science, Dr. Pen turned toward it, fixated on understanding how such transformations dismantle and reconstruct human identity.
His behavior since joining the E.I. has been described as erratic, yet highly productive. A constant smile masks his exhaustion and instability, while his sharp intellect and merciless curiosity earn him both fear and respect.
