Traditionally, people have thought of PowerPoint as the default presentation tools. But the days of total MicroSoft dominance in the market have ended and there are other possibilities. We don't longer need to pay substantial prices for huge MicroSoft Office packages (often termed "bloatware"), in which we only use two or three programs. One major alternative is Google Slides, which can be stored in your Google Drive. Officially, the Google Slides program is free to use and is integrated with other Google tools. (On the other hand, entering the ubiquitous Google universe entails revealing your personal data to Google and data-mining third-party companies. Thus the "free" service may indeed be quite costly, turning you into the product, rather than the user of the tool.)
In addition to MicroSoft PowerPoint and Google Slides, there are many on-line presentation tools that are free - at least for now. Hopefully, they will stay free and/or will not be crushed by MicroSoft and Google. The history of independent online tools is one of increasing monetization once the potential market is aware of the value of the tool, or the purchase of the tool by one of the tech giants (Facebook/Meta, Google/Alphabet, MicroSoft, Apple, and Amazon) in order to incorporate a new technology or just destroy the competition.
At least for the moment, Visme seems to offer an excellent online presentation tool that is free. Unfortunately, it would appear that downloading the presentations require a commercial account. The obvious danger is if the online service disappears, so will all your work.
Canva is another very popular alternative to PowerPoint.
