Objectives:
• Develop a procedural knowledge and understanding of the South Carolina Teaching Standards and begin to move to a conceptual understanding.
• Gain an understanding of the evaluation process, expectations and protocols that will be used by evaluators.
• Develop procedural knowledge of the 3 Planning indicators found on the NIET rubric.
• Identify characteristics found in the descriptors for each performance level
Overview:
Now that you have gained a better understanding of the instruction and planning domains, there indicators, and the performance level descriptors for each indicator, we will examine the environment domain. The environment domain is made up of 4 indicators. Even though there are not as many indicators in the environment domain as the instruction domain, they are still important and connected. During this module, you will examine each of the indicators and how their ratings are distinguished through each of the descriptors. Analyzing each of the descriptors will help you develop an understanding of how the classroom environment is evaluated with this rubric. It is important to note, that ratings are determined through the collection of student and teacher evidence. All ratings must be supported by evidence. You will also examine the classroom environment and make connections to the rubric after viewing a few videos.
