Engagement, access to tools and digital literacy continue to be challenges in multilingual learning classrooms. Participants will explore different virtual, AI tools, and social media apps to promote virtual and in-person engagement. Participants will leave with ideas, techniques and activities to adapt to any context and/or classroom.
a. Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education educators both in graduate and undergraduate programs

By the end of the session, participants will:
1. Understand through readings and exercises why varied virtual apps are relevant for the teaching-learning process in virtual and in-person teaching settings. (Week 1)
2. Differentiate between advantages and disadvantages of using apps depending on their own context through hands on exercise. (Week 1)
3. Implement varied strategies to incorporate apps and tools into their teaching practice by integrating into their weekly lessons. (Week 2)
4. Evaluate an array of virtual Apps, Generative AI tools and social media apps suited for their classroom through review of at least three tools. (Week 3 and 4)
5. Set up apps for learner engagement and incorporate them into their own lessons through a learning-by-doing approach by using in their classroom and integrating into their app portfolio. (Week 3 and 4)
6. Design examples of lessons using digital apps and Generative AI for virtual and in-person settings by organizing an app portfolio. (Week 5)
The content and assignments in this session are ongoing and depend on the previous content, which means each week builds on the previous one(s). If participants register late, they will not be able to complete the work as each week closes by a specific deadline. If participants don’t complete the work of the previous week, they will not be able to scaffold knowledge.
Participants can earn a Certificate of Completion at the end of the session and a badge for each week completed.
In order to obtain badges and certificate of completion participants need to:
Complete all weekly activities and assignments within Canva and in external apps, as well as the discussion forums.
Participate actively in the weekly discussions responding to prompts and commenting to at least one of their peers.
Complete a collaborative app portfolio with all criteria explained during week 1
Present their app portfolio contributions in the platform provided and during the closing session of the course.
Attend 70% of live sessions, or complete a summary of each recording in the corresponding discussion folder

Focus: Understand the relevance of virtual tools and be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating them into lessons based on the participants' context. Become familiar with Mural, Diffit, and ChatGPT, use Google Docs, and design an activity using a digital tool

Task 3: Explore 3 apps - Mural, Diffit, and ChatGPT. Design an activity using one of the apps explored. (Save it to share it on your Portfolio/Padlet).
Task 4: Review the app portfolio model on and padlet and add app teaching philosophy

Focus: How to incorporate AI tools in virtual or in- person settings. Evaluate AI tools for complexity, ease of use, and high and low connectivity contexts. Determine how to best select an app or tools for the classroom.
Specific Objective (aligned with session outcome 3)
By the end of this week, participants will be able to: implement varied strategies to incorporate AI Tools into their teaching practice effectively.
Tasks
Task 1: Review and analyze lessons that incorporate AI Tools. (Reflect, Contribute - Response to guided questions)
Task 2: Read one article about Digital Literacy and share your impressions on the most important aspects it brings in connection to the use of AI tools in the classroom both in person or virtually. ( Share and contribute )
Task 3: Explore apps - PollEverywhere,Audyo.ai, Ideogram.ai, Pretty Polly. Share in the forum how you would integrate one or two of them in one of your class sessions. Be sure to specify the lesson topic and the class stage (s) where you can design activities using these tools.
Task 4: Task 4:Design an activity using one or two of the tools explored during the week and how to apply in your teaching context. .Continue working on the collaborative tools portfolio.

Synchronous session: Demonstration of gen AI tools, basics of its use and possibilities for the classroom
Focus: Application - use of digital tools such as apps and Generative AI , setting up virtual tools for educators to use, and understanding how these tools contribute to the lesson's focus.
Specific Objectives: (aligned with session objectives 4 and 5)
By the end of this week participants will be able to:
1. reflect on virtual tools that suit their teaching context.
2. differentiate between virtual tools that can be integrated into their teaching practice.
Tasks
Task 1: Explore and select at least one virtual app and one GenAI tool. Create two original teaching resources using their chosen tools (e.g., a presentation with Genially and a lesson plan outline with Gemini). Share their creations in the designated Discussion Forum. Reflect on the effectiveness of their resources, considering aspects like instructional purpose, learner engagement, and assessment.
Task 2: Integrate one app and one GenAI tool resource within their actual classroom setting (if applicable) or a simulated scenario. Share their experiences in the Discussion Forum, including a description, video clip (optional), or presentation of student reactions.
Task 3: Update their app portfolio in the Padlet link, reflecting on the ease of use of their chosen tools in the classroom environment. If not currently teaching, they can collaborate with colleagues to provide insights. Share their reflections on which tools offer the most potential for their teaching context in discussion fourm.

Focus: Application/use of Generative AI tools for educators, setting apps, and how these tools contribute to the focus of the lesson.
Specific Objectives: (aligned with session objectives 4 and 5)
By the end of this week participants will have
1. reflected on AI tools that suit their teaching context
2. differentiated between Generative AI tools that can be integrated into their teaching practice
Tasks
Task 1: Choose one of the three articles about AI tools for education. Read it and share your thoughts and reflections. Post in the Discussion Forum.
Task 2: Explore at least three (3) AI tools useful for educators. Then, generate the three teaching resources using the AI tools chosen. Share them in the corresponding discussion forum. Finally, reflect on the teaching materials generated (consider instructional purpose, connection with the learner’s previous knowledge, level of engagement, assessment, and/or any other aspect you consider).
Task 3: Apply/Use the three (3) chosen AI resources in the class. Afterwards, choose one of the three AI apps used in the classroom. Share it in the corresponding discussion forum and write a detailed description of the learners’ reaction to this activity/resource.
Task 4: Continue working on your app portfolio - identify how easy or difficult it was to use the three (3) AI tools to design your classes. Share reflections on which AI app(s) have the most potential in your classroom.
