During the 2024-25 school year, Everett Public Schools (EPS) initiated this equity audit to understand better how the district can build upon its strengths and allocate resources to meet the diverse needs of its students, staff, and community. Prioritizing the needs of historically marginalized populations, EPS is committed to fostering equity, defined as ensuring optimal access and opportunity for all individuals while eliminating inequities and disparities faced by historically subordinated groups.
The equity audit, conducted in collaboration with Robin’s Way Consulting and guided by volunteer EPS staff members and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Advisory Board, was designed to:
1. Assess current strengths and areas for growth in diversity, equity, and inclusivity within EPS policies and practices.
2. Facilitate reflective discussions comparing the current state of equity with the district's aspirational goals.
3. Provide actionable recommendations to enhance equitable practices and ensure the success of all stakeholders.
This comprehensive review included document and data analysis, interviews, focus groups, phone calls, and surveys with a wide range of EPS stakeholders, including students, families, staff, and community members. The findings highlighted five priority areas for advancing equity, access, and inclusion across the district. For each area, the audit identifies foundational strengths, key findings, and targeted recommendations.
