The DEIB Advisory Board of the Everett Public School District committed to creating a school district where all students are successful, and demographics are no longer an indicator of success. We aim to empower all students and staff through collaboration, research, and educational development for the intentional disruption of systemic racism, bigotry, and prejudice. We will advise the Superintendent and the School Committee on all areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, resulting in thoughtful actions that respond to the needs of all students and staff.
Our goal is to create an education system that is culturally responsive and culturally sustaining in which all students feel like they belong. We are equally committed to building the leaders of tomorrow who will address racism and prejudice to promote equity throughout their lives.
The DEIB Advisory Council will:
Analyze district-wide climate survey data to identify district, school and community priorities & goals
Utilize surveys, focus groups and district data to conduct and Equity Audit to improve the climate of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging for students, families, faculty and staff of EPS
Discuss and implement opportunities for improvement of EPS current strategies related to diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging
Utilize audit findings to identify barriers that appear within the EPS educational system and work to erase resulting gaps in learning, development, belonging, and safety for all of our students by presenting to the school committee
Present findings to School Committee to make requests for changes in applicable policies and practices
